Yuletide Wreaths for Protection and a Happy Home

It’s the Yuletide season! One of the best parts of this season is all the decorating that we tend to do. A lovely evergreen wreath is one of the ultimate symbols of winter and one of the most fun ways to spruce up your wreath is to add a little magick to it! Hang your wreaths on your front door as a classic symbol of the holidays while adding a protective boost to your home! You can also hang mini wreaths from windows or wherever you’d like some Yuletide magick!

You Will Need: a wreath, herbs, twine or thread, gemstones, dried orange or lemon slices, maybe ribbon? Whatever your heart desires! Try to use biodegradable materials so that you can return the wreath to the Earth when the winter season is done!

Specifics: Different herbs can be used for different things. I have a fondness for rosemary as it’s a great substitute for any herb, but you can use anything that is meaningful to you. Some examples are:

  1. Rosemary – Protection, happiness, cleansing
  2. Cedar – Protection, cleansing
  3. Lavender – Tranquility, cleansing, happiness
  4. Baby’s Breath – Love, luck
  5. Sweetgrass – Cleansing, happiness
  6. Cinnamon – protection, prosperity

Step One – Start with your base wreath. You can use the classic evergreen bough or you can DIY it. Check your local farmer stands and support the local economy!

Step Two – Once you have your base wreath secured with twine, or a premade one – decorate it with the extras! Weave your herbs throughout the evergreen bough, tie cinnamon sticks throughout, weave ribbons, tie quartz crystals to it, the sky is the limit and your creativity can be unleashed! As you are weaving, pull a thread of energy from the cosmos to weave alongside your ingredients and visualize these wreaths protecting your home and property.

Step Three – Hang them in the windows and on the doors. These are subtle, very homey ways to ward off any ill will, or negativity (especially great if you have people visiting over the winter season) and keep your home comfy; and they look very cute fresh or fully dried!
